Default Website critique

Hello all,

I usually a lurker on here just hearing a lot of the great things you all have to say but I would like to post to get a good critique for my new website.

Il Cavallo Photography - Equine and Lifestyle Photography

It's about 75% done, I just don't have the gallery (just linked to my flickr until next weekend) or calendar up yet. I will also have a blog that is more in line with my website but that won't be coming for a while.

Thanks for the advice and critique!

Katie

Hi Katie!

I like your website. I myself am trying to decide which webhost to go with. Who did you go with? I like the set up; it is simple and easy to use. The pictures look great too! Only thing that might be missing is maybe a password protected gallery for your clients and online ordering? I don't know if those things are available through your webhost, but those are things that I am looking for. Hope this helps!

Ya know...this is horrible but I have no idea who the webhost is. My husband created it, I just told him what I wanted. LOL! My basic idea was something very simple with the focus on the ease of use and the photos. I will have to find out tomorrow and get back you to.

As for the gallery, I am actually going with a new company who does photo hosting and ordering but I don't know yet if I will integrate it into my website or not. The company is just getting up off the ground so I am expecting to be able to utilize their services by the end of the month.

Thanks for your input!

I just had a brief look (suffering from lack of broadband internet access at the moment) but what I saw was great. I really like the pictures you have up there. One thing - the quotes you have on each page, are they your own? If not, I think you should have the 'quotee' (sorry, probably a made up word ) credited. Overall it looks good.

The website looks great! One thing I recommend is putting a photo that matches the category for the services areas. For example, when clicking on Family and Child, have a family and child at the top.

Thanks for the input. The quotes that have a quotee (I like that word even if it is made up!) it's stated. Most of them were unknown quotes that I have randomly collected over the years.

I actually was thinking about this tonight! The pictures at the top randomly change when you click on something on the website. But I do think I am going to make a small photo banner that will go at the end of each page to correspond to each page topic. Thanks for the critique.

Just looked at it real quick and I really like the simplicity of the site. My only critique would be this: the first picture I saw (I know I'll see a different one each time and most of them were great shots!) was of a horses head (real up close) and it took me awhile to figure out what it was a picture of and I'm not sure you would want a visitors first impression to be that of confusion :-/ Maybe just take that horse pic off?

I recommend Squarespace, I use them and it's crazy easy. 8 bucks a month too. Site looks good, I've been working on mine too. Have you tried moving the "blog" to the same provider, so that the lok and feel is the same? Some of the companies let you migrate over pretty easily.
