Default How to tell 'pro' photographer ....

that I am no longer interested in working with her. Been working as a 2nd shooter for her and recently was left alone to do a wedding which I did not appreciate. I do not feel she values me and is just using me because I let her get 'away with paying me next to nothing. I want her to know how I feel but I don;t want to be confrontational. Help me? (been away awhile, missed it here )

"I quit."

Without knowing the details, might it have been an expression of her confidence in you that she gave you the job when something came up?

Who knows.

Well you can just say no to the other weddings she will get the idea that you don't want to work with her anymore. but you should say that you are moving forward

You could tell her that in order to grow as a Photographer you need to go your own way.

I would agree that maybe she did have the confidence in me to do the job but she certainly didn't pay me as though she had that confidence. I got $100 for 2 hours travel and 7 hours shoot time.

Thank you all for your comments

Out of interest, she gave you $100, I'm guessing she got paid for the wedding - $1500? $1400 of which for doing nothing?

in which case, tell her you're now a competent photogrpaher, and $100 isnt enough for what you're doing for her. especially if you're shooting an entire wedding for her. Suggest a new hourly rate, and she'll either acept, counter offer, or tell you to get lost .....but thats if you actually still want to work for her.

OR.. if you really dont want to work with her anymore.. next time she calls just keep telling her you're not available. eventually she'll get the picture, or ask why
