Up until reading a few of the threads on this forum, I hadn't thought much about using FB as a way of promoting my photography or displaying a portfolio. Not to say that I haven't uploaded tons of pictures to my FB page, but it's my own personal page at this point. Those of you who use FB to promote your photography - do you set up a specific account for this purpose? I'm guessing that would probably be the way to go but am not sure about the specifics of setting something up like this - any advice? I would like to start a page where I can post my best work and build from there. Thanks for any help

start here - Login | Facebook
and look through this primer - PhotoBiz Blog » Social Networking and then check people's signatures here on the forum to see what they do. |

Be sure to read ALL of the fine print! What is FB doing with your images, are you giving them rights?? I have since removed all of my albums and images, although by removing them facebook still has them. This might be different for a business page. I market my business heavily thru FB but it's not photo related, and I was only using my images on mey personal page.

You own all of the content and information you post on Facebook, and you can control how it is shared through your privacy and application settings. In addition: 1. For content that is covered by intellectual property rights, like photos and videos ("IP content"), you specifically give us the following permission, subject to your privacy and application settings: you grant us a non-exclusive, transferable, sub-licensable, royalty-free, worldwide license to use any IP content that you post on or in connection with Facebook ("IP License"). This IP License ends when you delete your IP content or your account unless your content has been shared with others, and they have not deleted it. You own it, they get to use it if it's posted on their site. When you quit FB, it's removed unless someone else has it in their collection. Common sense. |

I set up a Facebook fan page, it was pretty easy. I store very few photos on Facebook directly, either on my fan page or personal profile, but I have lots of links to my work. facebook.com/funcrunchphoto
