Default Looking for software/service to allow me create online site for proofs and sales

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for a software/service that would allow me to manage photos from each of my photography sessions by allowing to share them with my client through online website (under secure password), allow them select which photos they want to print, how many, what size, and pay with credit card. Does anyone know of a good solution/service/software? I'm just tired of doing it all through physical prints. Old school

Thanks.

Zenfolio, Smugmug, and am personally trying instaproofs.com. So far, it turns out to be easy setup. Just a note, am using my own site and then directing to my storefront @ instaproofs.com

There's a good chance you will see a decline in sales, especially in large prints and custom items. Old School methods tend to be far more profitable. In person the client is right there looking at all your goodies in person with their eyes bulging out and they are buying NOW .. you're impressing the crap out of them and they have their checkbook in hand .. not sitting around the house taking their time to consult, budget, realize they don't NEED that expensive canvas, book, album or any other high dollar item you offer. Plus you are not offering the temptation of simply stealing the image and printing themselves ... Some people are really stupid and they will try to print off a few to save a buck (even watermarked images) then you got newbie looking crap floating around with your name on it. Stay old school and offline .. go with projector or giant flat screen setups.

I use and recommend Zenfolio, which will do everything you ask. Check it out, and if you decide to sign up, my referral code is DUQ-C5J-MB8.

If you are just getting started or don't sell many prints, check out instaproofs.com. They are free but charge you a 15% commission on everything you sell. So if you sell $200, the fee is $30. If you sell more than $200 per month, you'll want to go with a monthly paid service. Check out Portnine Exposure which starts at $39 per month. Hope that helps.

I am in the process of trying to find a webhost too and I am having a terrible time deciding on who to go with. I love the look of Smug Mug but I don't like the fact that they charge a monthly fee plus charge a 15% commission. And Photobiz doesn't seem as easy to use and is more expensive. It's tough out there with all these fees!

Hi Brian, how do you like your smugmug pro account. I am thinking about doing it. I am so green when it comes to websites so I hope they are helpful when the time comes I have a trail account with them if you wish to check it out. simplytakenphotography.smugmug.com
I got my official domain so I can take the smugmug out when I buy it. Do you find people ordering prints that way? I have been the photographer who just gives a cd with the shoot, but now I am trying to move away from "giving" my work away! so gonna do the option pay for fee and buy prints or buy cd...thanks for the feedback!
