Default How do you package your CDs/DVDs?

If you offer a CD of your images to your clients what do you use?

CD or DVD?
Do you use a lightscribe/label/etc?
How do you package them?

I've heard that using the sticker labels ends up damaging/warping the CDs. I've never had a problem with them but wonder if anyone else has. Any favorite brands?

CD or DVD? Depends on the number of images.

Do you use a lightscribe/label/etc? Used Ligthscribe for a while, but it's not practical for any quantity. The absolute best you can do for CD/DVD labeling is the Dymo DiscPainter.

How do you package them? In a black jewel case. I avoid the rainbow colored jewels.

For wedding and high end portraiture, consider a custom case from someone like WHCC. Those run something like $20 or $25 each, so they aren't practical for the sports market.

Uline.com has great prices on packaging supplies.

I love lightscribe and each cd that leaves me is a lightscribe disc because you can't beat the reaction of clients when they see that disc with their image/name etched in it. If it is a proof cd for like a senior image, I just did a jewel case. For my weddings, I bought a double cd case with a space for a small print in the front. They are leather-ish type materials and they match the digital albums that come in my packages. (I like matching things.) They run around 25 and I pay a bit extra to have my studio name embossed on them. I find them on ebay. If you are sending out a mass quantity of discs, lightscribe may not be the best idea, but for one or two discs per client, for me, you can't beat the look on their faces. Plus the added benefit of someone noticing that if they try to make copies at Target. Good luck!

Thanks for asking this, LauraSAnne. I will soon be offering CD/DVD for my portraits and would love to hear the options. I was thinking of Lightscribe, but good to know other options too.

Question though. Do you put your name on the Case's cover also? If someone can share a photo of their use than it will help to understand better.

Appreciate it.

I select a view, print it and put on the jewel case. I also select a view for the CD/DVD and attach that as well. The occasion and my name and website is printed on the view that goes on the DVD/CD.

I just started using lightscribe for my CDs/DVDs. For my CDs, I put them in a white paper sleeve and tie a ribbon around the outside. (This CD has low-res, watermark pics of any pic they order from me). The ribbon is part of my overall packaging. DVDs I have a DVD case that I print a sleeve for, and I put a ribbon around it as well.

We don't do images but we offer DVD slideshows with 1 image printed directly on a DVD inside a round metal tin with a 2nd image printed directly on the lid.
