Default Got my website up and running

Wade Courtney Photography

Comments appreciated.

I do plan on adding more commentary to the photos and also possibly adding a weekly blog.

Thanks,

Wade

Your site looks nice. It's clean and uncluttered. I am on a s l o w connection and the images loaded plenty quick. For a personal website I think it works & allows you to show off your stuff. For a website where you are trying to market yourself, I think you need to develop it more. It needs to provide focus and purpose to a potential client.

I think it's a great lay out and the pictures really stand out. But I'm not sure what type of photographer you are. If I'm a client looking for an event photographer I'd pass by or if i was looking for portraits I'd pass by. Also no rates or 'services' you provide. Good site for your portfolio but you have to make it easier for clients to navigate to find what it is you do and how they can hire you.

agreed that the purpose of the website isn't clear.

you also seem to have the same images in different galleries. if they're just placeholders while you work on the mechanics of the website, thats fine temporarily, otherwise it looks hokey.

it has a clean feel to it, but that could be because it's kind of barren. functionality is good though, again, just super light on content. it's ok to be light, but you have to make sure what you do have there has impact and lots of it, and right now it doesnt have that.

not sure i like the font you used for your header/logo either.

Thanks for your feedback. I'm working on the focus part. I have ADD so you might imagine how hard that is LOL.

Thanks for taking the time to look. I'm still working on the Rates page. When you say "Navigate" do you mean the website navigation or something else? I'm not sure how to narrow down what type of photographer I am. Diverse and versatile are two words that I can think of to describe my skills. I'll look at reorganizing the categories a bit.

Thanks again.

I agree with all the above comments. The website is fluid and attractive and i'm sure you'll make your photography focus know with more edits. I just wanted to add that I think your photos are quite good. Keep up the good work.

The site takes a second before loading, and its a bit of a wait, but its negligible.

THe site itself is nice. Main page is a bit sparse on content (image on top, small text box, HUGE WHITE SECTION).. The logo up at the top of each page also doesnt match with the gradient behind it. Instead of that image, use text over the area or use a transparent image of just the text.

Galleries:
DOnt cross-post images in the galleries. That's a nono. I also dont see what the images in the "Events" section have to do with events. They dont convey that at all. There's one, maybe two that would, but the rest just look like filler.

Images themselves are great, though your categorization of them leaves a fair bit to be desired. In the galleries themselves, the images should be one click to make larger: the details page is useless. Some of the images I might not include or might be tempted to re-shoot with better technique, if at all possible.

Contact page is bare. It needs a bit more. Give people a reason to contact you, incite them to say something, etc. Just having the form there with nothing else is bloody boring.

Overall its a good start, it just needs some tweaking and re-organization.

I'm using Wordpress with a theme that I purchased.

The Huge white section is supposed to contain the RSS feed from flickr. I'm having trouble getting it to work .

I saw what you said about the logo. I'm working on that. I tried to use a transparent image, but the font didn't render correctly and it was late so I changed it back.

I guess I need to understand what would go under events. The pics were taken at events I attended, but I think they are cropped so closely that you really can't tell.

Thanks for the good words. I wasn't sure how to categorize some of them. As for the clicks, that is part of the template, I will have to figure out how to turn that off at the code level.

Which images would you not include or reshoot?

Agreed. Thanks for the time you took to look at it.
