Am more into travel/nature/landscape photography (ok also car shows and racing events) and I am just wondering what kind of photo gallery or website I would need? The reason that I am asking is that I have a premium account with Zenfolio because I thought it would be great to sell photos and products online. However, am not really selling online so maybe I just need a photo gallery? I think, even for a amateur photographer, you need at least a website to show your work. Please anyone can give some advice?

You could have gotten a cheaper site with zenfolio or smugmug. If you're not selling your prints online, you don;t need the most expensive option. How 'bout Flickr?

I like your website, nice music! Thats the Zenfolio unlimited plan? Mine (premium account for $ 100) expired so thats why I am looking at a different plan, because I don't think I need the expensive one.

I'm considering the premium Zenfolio right now. Okay, I'm a sucker for the background music. :-) I also looked into Smugmug. It was easy to use and it has some lower level plans. I also looked into wix.com which has free sites (with ads), but I found that creating the site was more time consuming than the others. There's always Flickr or Picassa.

Don't use FlickR...folks can snatch your images right off the website.
I use photoshelter for my travel/sports/editorial images. Go see: Seattle, WA., based freelance photojournalists specializing in sports, travel | Jim Bryant Photography

Background music is really distracting. Most editors want to go in, check the images, select and get out without having to listen to music.

Thanks. yes that is the unlimited plan that i have. I like using something like zenfolio or smugmug because I like the design aspect of putting a site together, which isn't there with flickr. But it all depends what you want!

You are right about that too Jim. I turn it on and off, depending on my mood. (So can the viewer) Gosh, when I looked at photos to put in our publications, I always had the print in hand - but that was another time!

Jim's right about Flickr. I either use very small, lo res shots on Flickr or i apply a watermark when i post things there. Those shots are easy to download.
