Default Number of proofs from session

I'm curious...about how many proofs do you give clients after a 1 hr session? Generally, my target is 30-40, I'm just wondering about everyone else.

Thanks Susan and Dan! I usually cap out at 40, but I did a session yesterday and I'm having a hard time narrowing it down below 50. I've not had this much trouble before, but I guess that's actually a good thing.

This is useful info - thanks everyone. Another question along the same lines - what percentage of shots should I be aiming to get as usable images for proofs? At the moment (I'm very very new and just learning, doing some free shoots for friends..) I am getting around 20 - 30% that I think are good enough. I know that this will improve with practice, but am just looking for a ball park figure.......
Thanks - Ari

20-30 too

but "as many as possible: is the best option.. seeing as they typically love and buy the ones you think are "ok"

I don't trust clients to make such important decisions, so I make them for them

I guarantee 18-24, but usually provide around 30. I also agree that sometimes they pick the ones that I think are "ok," the last few I included as an afterthought.

for 1 hour 15-25ish. some times i go over depending on if i like the images or not. it's always better to under promise and over delivery than to over promise and under deliver.
