Default Pelican Cases?.?.?.?

So I was looking at the Pelican cases to carry my equipment around and I just dont know what size to get. I was wondering what you type and size of cases you might have and what all the case can hold.

The best advice I can give you on that is to take your equipment to a local Pelican dealer and let them help you match it up right in the showroom. I did that here a while back, but didn't end up buying the case.

Mark, are you planning on flying with your gear or do you just want a more secure case to carry it in? I have a soft sided (large) Tamrac case for normal use and a Pelican 1510 (Pelican™*Products*1510*Carry On Case) when I'm flying somewhere. Please keep in mind that even if you get a travel case approved for carry-on, some planes will not allow them on (which seperates you from your gear).

I use Thinktank products and now use my pelican cases to store my studio strobes and power packs.

Lay your gear out on the floor in a way you would like to carry it. Measure the area, and look for the case that fits your needs.

I've got mine set up so I can keep a D300 with a 17-55 on it, a D80 with a 80-200 on it, a space for my speedlight, 50mm, and 300mm with a 1.4 TC on it. I've made a space for my studio light transmitters, and receivers since I took this shot.

I use a 1510 as my standard "storage/transport" case. I have the padded dividers and lid organizer.
In it I have:
D3 body, 28-70mm f/2.8, 80-200mm f/2.8, Sigma 12-24mm, Sigma 150mm f/2.8 Macro, Sigma 2x converter, SB800, 2 SB600's, filters, brackets, remotes, batteries, blower, etc.
At one time I had it arranged to also carry a 50-500mm but not the D3.

In my Thinktank Shapeshifter I can carry two EOS MKII bodies, either the 14mm f2.8 or 16-35mm f2.8 lenses, 28-70mm f2.8, 70-200mm f2.8, 1.4 extender, a Speed lite 580 EX, my laptop and accessories and some other stuff. It'll fit right underneath the seat in front of me.

This is all very good information but with the Pelican cases do they come fitted for certain things or do you 'cut' out what ever shape you need?

If you get foam lined you "cut " to fit...with the padded divider accessory you "arrange" dividers to suit like mot bags...
