Default Photo to oil-like on canvas?

Just had someone ask me about taking a photo of their house and having it turned into an oil-paint like print on canvas. Is there any way of doing something like this? I know you can print on canvas and I know it won't be raised like an oil painting but wondering if there's anything sort of like this I may be able to tell her about.

Thanks.

Image conversion can be done either in Photoshop + relevant filters or Corel Painter.
Example

Original.

After PPing in Painter.

Our local Michaels (back in the framing department) offers something like this...they take a photo and then through some process put it on canvas. Not sure if that is what you were looking for.

Using Photoshop as well as applying some textured layers you can achieve a "painterly" look to most photographs. Here's a photo I took of an Ironweed blossom & converted to a "painted" version.

I hope this helps!

I took a photo of my neighbor's daughter several years ago at a wedding on the beach. She located a local artist who actually transfered the image to canvas and then painted it in oil. Whoever she hired did a fantastic job because you could not tell it was oil paint on a photograph, it just looked like an original oil painting. If you check with some local galleries or art schools in your area they may know of an artist who does this. Hope this helps. Here is the photo she used

Ok, first, I don't want to hire a painter to do this. The cost would get high very quickly and I'm trying to keep it under control.

Second, these are all great examples. Anyone know where I can find a good tutorial on how to do this?

Thanks.
