Default How to price products?

So far, I've only sold prints to customers which are fairly easy to figure out how to price by checking out other local photographers prices. But with other products (such as canvases, gallery wraps, and especially books and albums, most photographers say 'contact me for more pricing information'. So I'm not sure what the standard is for pricing these types of items. I'd really like to get into designing my own albums and books, then sending out to print at a photo lab that does this service (such as WHCC). But I'm not sure how to come up with a pricing scale for this. I was reading somewhere about charging anywhere from 100-500% of what the cost of the product is from the lab.

Also, if there are any other tips you know of about creating and pricing books or albums that you would like to share, I would REALLY appreciate it! It's all so overwhelming! I don't want it to be too low of a price that my hours of work put into it aren't accounted for, but I also wouldn't want my prices to be outrageous to where no one would want to buy the product/service. Any suggestions?

TIA!

I wish I could help... but I am in the same boat! I kind of just look around other photographers websites and get some ideas... I also send mine in to a lab (until I get my own pro printer) so I just add like between $20 and $50 depending on what I do!

I read somewhere that a photographer should charge at least 5x more than what it cost you to print it/them.
For example, it costs me $0.30 to print out one 4x6 photo, so I charge my client $1.50 for the print.
Now if you're getting tons of clients than you can charge anywhere from 10-15 times more than the original price.
Seems like a lot, but prints are (most of) our main profit.

When selling products , Consider the quality of products (photos) you are selling . Then tell if the prices are just right .
