Looking to have 5x7 folded cards printed - 12 to a box - for resale.. anyone have a printing source for not only a quality product, but a reasonable price? Most that I've seen would charge me what I'd consider a retail price with only a small discount for quantity purchases..
I have a business that would like some of my photos on cards to sell, and I need a baseline cost before I talk to them anymore... They'd purchase my stock for resale - any suggestions for a markup % ? Thanks, r

I've looked into this too. Couldn't find anyone who would charge a reasonable price.
I ended up buying blank cards from cardblanks.com (they are made and shipped from Victoria, Canada) and 4x6 photos and gluing them on. But if you need a lot of them this may not work for you...... The place I sell to orders about 50 cards every two months, not so many that I can't make them myself.

OK, if you decide to make them yourself (which I highly recommend), here is some info.
Card Blanks is the best place to buy blank cards. Cheap (relatively) and not made overseas (assuming you are in North America). 5x7 clean-cut white or natural cards and envelopes are 27 cents (USD) for BOTH if you buy 100. Crystal Clear sleeves NO FLAP (which I recommend using so that the photos don't get scratched) are 7.00 dollars (US) for 100. The ones with flaps cost a bit more, but I use flapless, and as long as you have the right size they are fine. I have never used these but they look like they would be very good. Crystal Clear Boxes. Hope I've helped you some!

Here is another place to look at:
Photographer'sEdge I was also going to say Vistaprint but I don't know how their prices compare to anyone else. |

I haven't used them but this place looks alright:

I had the same issue with wanting to have my images on cards for sale. I did not find any source that would print & supply me with cards/envelopes and packaging for any sort of reasonable price. As such, I started printing my own cards on 10 x 7 stock that folds to 5 x 7. My cost for producing a set of 10 cards with envelopes & a clear plastic box is just under $1.05 per card. ( this takes into account my ink usage on a Canon printer as well.)
I purchase my supples from Red River Paper (Welcome to Red River Paper) which has a great variety of papers and sizes to suit many needs. Their customer service has always been excellent for me. I do manage to save a bit because I am local and drive the 25 miles to pick up my stuff to save on shipping. The actual printing/folding/packaging is a bit time consuming, but it is easily done during a mindless movie on TV ![]() Let me know if I can be of any further help.

Using cards envelopes and sleeves from CardBlanks, 4x6 photos from Walgreens, and "RossStick" glue sticks (not the blue ones) from Wal-Mart, costs me 0.54 cents per finished card/envelope.
I definitely recommend doing it that way! It takes me about 30 sec. (less if I feel like it) to slap each one together and shove it in a sleeve. ![]() I sell them to the store for $2.00 each and they (most of them) mark them up to $3.00. But I live in a touristy area, so I can get away with that price. ![]() Actually my cards are the second cheapest at most of the stores, one photographer I know sells his cards at the same place as me, and they mark his up to $6.00! Good Luck! ![]()

Not sure if they have a Costco in your area but they are reasonable. (You have to order online.) Also try 123Print.com.

I commented on some one elses post a while ago about pretty much the same thing.
Your best bet is to go to a commercial printer adn get a quote. If possible find a Trade Printer, some one who supplies trade only, like graphic designers, you will get a cheaper price, but you will need to supply print ready files, so you will need good computer know how. I am in australia and we do a minimum print run of 100, DL or post card size for AU$160 print ready files., you would need to add postage and package your self, our current customers use clear plastic bags with a sticky seal and a hole for hanging. We run a pro offset press, and have 2 choices for laminate. www.acprint.com.au |
