Ive tried in vain to get approval but they just keep rejecting me with one or the other reason. The last submission was today wherein they say that it could have made it but for composition, shadows possibly, light and composition etc. Theyre too picky.Fotolia is worse where they close your account the first time itself if you dont meet approval. Some of the pics I submitted made it to competitions. Is there any site which is not so picky? Please let me know. Ta

istock is the pickiest ever--don't waste your time. With Shutterstock, it depends on who is viewing the photos.
Try Dreamstime and BigStock...they are reasonable. Microstock is really different from other types of photography, so what wins awards doesn't always work for stock. |

Post some of the photos you submitted.

That's true. They are paid to be editors and therefore know the industry standards in accepting images.

Do not look for an easier site, As mentioned above look at this as a way to improve your photography. I submit images to all agencies mentioned. iStock is the toughest. Shooting stock will make you a better technical photographer. Post some images at 100% and we will have a look at them.
You can also post images on the forums of these sites, you will get great feed back on what you have to do to improve your images. Take this as a challenge and become a better photographer. Thanks Joe

I had a look at some pics of subjects I was thinking about doing (ie. benchmarking) and they were terrible. Thise pics were submitted about 3 or 4 years ago. I haven't had a go at doing this subject yet, but it will be interesting to see if they get passed QC when I do. CG

It's been a few years since I submitted to BigStock. When I did, they were very nice and told me what was wrong with the photo and if it could be improved on etc., with post processing and then to resubmit. Or if I had another version. Some they just didn't want for one reason or another. I have no idea if they still tell you what is 'wrong' with the image or why they don't want it.
I only submitted to BS, not to any of the others. When I posted my first comment I didn't think beyond submitting to other places; take into consideration what the others said, which is very true. Use the critiques as a way to make you into a better photographer! |
