Default Charing the right amount for prints...

I am just starting. I am just getting into the post processing side and learning lighting to be able to get paid. Right now I am taking friends engagement pictures for free to develope my skill/style. What do you think about my photos? Weiss Photography

my realy question is, I want to give a current friend a deal for the prints. I just started using a print house. I don't want to charge too much, but I am starting a business. anyone have suggestions to what i should charge for 35 4x6 and 1 8x10? I was thinking $40

You can get an idea. Allot of people charge around 20$ for an 8x10 i charge only 10... However I don't make much money from my photography normally its about 50-100$ a session.

BTW the second picture on the first blog post then one with them in the gazbo they are under exposed you might want to adjust accordingly. I really like the rail road pics...

Based on a really quick look through the images, I think you are too caught up in textures, actions and other post processing gimmicks. This is common among those who are "just starting" because the feeling is that all the gimmickry makes up for lack of skill and experience. Learn how to take great photos without the trickery, then use some of those things IN MODERATION for a bit of style.

$40 won't even come close to covering your real expenses, so why bother charging at all if you're not going to take the time to figure out what you need to charge because as you say, you are "starting a business."

Overall, I think you're probably putting the cart quite a bit before the horse.

A good start might be to submit some photos for critique.
