Question Is this good enough to make money?

How can i monetize such pictures?

beauty in the wild

more from the set on flickr

Is shutterstock or istockphoto the best available choice? Is it possible to contact magazines to see if they would be interested?

If she bought it then yes

For me the lighting is very harsh and unnatural and it's really distorted making her legs unnaturally huge. She is beautiful though and I think the scene could definitely be worked with!

She's a lovely girl but the pose is too unnatural, making the whole picture feel contrived. The lighting on her seems harsh. And the focus is too much on her legs rather than her pretty face. Lots to work with here. Nice scenery. I would give it another go from another angle. I think you are definately headed in the right direction.

would it make any better if cropped tighter from the right? Also, is it unnatural to have a wide angle shot for portraits which portrays legs a little longer than normal.

I was trying something like these ...

Yes, distortion is done intentionally sometimes and can work beautifully. For ME anyway, it didn't work well on this photo because it didn't draw you into the image at all. It just made the knees the focus of attention.

Okay valid suggestions.

Also, is it possible to drop this thread in this category and move it to the critique section. I guess it doesn't belong to the "earning with photography" section unless i polish my skils

Default Stock

I shoot stock on a regular basis. One of the biggest challenges about shooting stock is to realize that stock agencies are selling images to designers who are working for companies that want consumer or business themed images. The current trend is to have natural images of everyday people in life style type poses. Fine Art, fashion based poses of people who look like models do not sell.

Also the images must have an narrower exposure latitude for printing images in magazines, and publications and web sites.

Your image's background would not reproduce well for printed material. The contrast on the models face is way too contrasty. Your image with a bit or work might be a good fashion or fine art image, but would not sell well for stock.

The best thing to do is view the images that most sell on stock sites and change you mind set if you want to sell stock.

Also stock agencies such as iStock have very high standards for acceptance.

If you want to improve you technical photography, submit some images to iStock, and learn from the rejections that you receive.

Magazines normally contract with a photographer who shoot images for there purposes or buy stock images.

Thanks

Joe
