Default On the right track with my logo?

Just seeing what some people think. This is one for the clean look. I'm thinking of going for a more grunge logo. This one came from playing with the L and the D to go for a partial head profile look. Colour is probably off because the original was CMYK for print material. But any constructive criticism appreciated.

Lex, It looks like a work of art, but, and it's a big but...I'm from the school that wants logos to be non-obtrusive, and should not compete in any way with the image. This would be fine on your website, or your business card, but too many people go over the top with logos as far as I'm concerned...to the point where the logos look better than the images. Just my conservative 2 cents. But it's pretty....

Yeah i agree on the photo for sure. I have a more grunge idea for my logo atm that will turn the L and D into something that will look like a small stamp in the corner of the photo but will blow up nicely for a site logo or letter head. thanks for the input on it i appreciate it

Edit

Lol I may have to scrap this one. Even though the L and D are freehanded, the wife just looked at the L and said "A little too Coca Cola?"

For me the L / D are too thick compared to the other. I would suggest to thinner those a bit n thicken the others a bit too. Did you check how the logo looks at 150-200px?

The joining point of the L and g can get a bit smoother too.

Just my 2 cents, hope it helps

cheers

Have you thought about just using the 'L' and the 'D', and dropping the rest of the letters in the name? I went through the same sort of process, and ended up just keeping my initials and then overlaying in smaller text my full name and the photography. nothing mind-blowing, but the simplicity worked for me. much easier to use different proliferations of the concept too.
