Default Landscape Project

Hi everyone,

I'm completely new to this section and I'm looking for some opinions / advices.

My parents hired a contactor to do some landscaping around their house. This was a fairly big job as it took over a month to complete. I took several shots during the entire process to see the progression and to provide a souvenir to my parents.

The contractor saw some of my picture and really like the results. He also proposed me to start taking shots of his project and asked me how much I would charge. He would like to show what he can do when people are requesting examples using a photo album and maybe a website later on.

I never expected to do some money with my pictures but this is different than just an hobby. On the other hand, I don't want to overcharge nor undercharge and I have no clue where to start.

I was thinking about 50$ for small projects (1 week / 10 pictures) and 100$ for longer one (1 months / 25 pictures). My plan is to take the before, during and after. Therefore I would have to get there 3-4 times per project. This price would include the travelling, post production, printed copies and a DVD. Does it seems a fair price ?

I will gadly accept any help for free
Simon

Seems like a bargain - for the company that is.

Even if you're only on site for a limited amount of time, the travel time is more than that.

That being said, the "during" phase most contractors do themselves with their compacts: it's the before and after shots that are most important.

You'll be making less than minimum wage. If you are ok with that, go for it.

Does seem very cheap to me - especially if you have to travel a fair distance. I cannot see a landscape business sticking to the same area.

If you have to Travel 25 times in month ad you have to travel 30 minutes of a day. That is going to be very time consuming!

Thanks for the replies. You guys are right, it ain't enough just for the travelling.

I'll probably do the begining and the end only as OS suggested. I still have some time to think about it and need to finalize the agreement with the contractor.

Cheers

The best way to figure out pricing is to decide an hourly rate, say $15 and hour and then figure out how many hours the project will take, hours x price + expenses like fuel, dvd's etc.
