Default How much would you charge?

I'm used to shooting on a fixed price kinda scale - "will you shoot us, here, for this long, how much" - I've come back from a week off to an email from a mega PR agency in London, we want to use four or five of your images on the Disney website - so, yep, excited...

But, you know what, I have no idea what the going rate is, if I should quote more because it's a huge website (ranked 146th in the USA) or what... I don't want to rip them off, but I don't want to be walked over, either..

Does a big website = more?
Does a big PR agency = more?

What would you do?

*for those of you that don't like "how much would you charge" questions, feel free to go enter this competition and win a couple'a grands worth of camera bags...

Disney is big. Mega-big. That means big exposure, which means big money.

Disney would mean big exposure for you. They spend more money on advertising and movies than they do on their cast members. I don't think you will be ripping them off if you charge them a huge amount. I would take your normal rate and up it 20 to 30 percent.

First of all congratulations, getting your work noticed and being approached by Disney are an accomplishment in itself.

Second, sorry, I can't help you there, my pictures aren't even worth posting here... yet

But I imagine a question could be: do you get photo credits on the site, and do you retain "bragging rights"? Or do you sign away all rights? Answers to those must influence the price too, no?

Congrats.

I don't know how much use it would be or even if it has become dated but I found this just a few days ago and it might help give you an idea of where to start.

Wow, that's awesome, congratulations. Have you got the shots on the web or are you keeping them under wraps for now?

...sorry I have no idea how much you should charge...

Everyone has pictures worth showing someone else - then they get better and show more people :-) -=- Not so much Disney as a musical artist's management told a PR company to use me - which is quite exciting for me! -- Credits / Bragging rights, no, I won't sign away rights unless they want to pay for them and that will certainly influence the final price, uh huh! -- Thanks for your comment.

Sadly doesn't have web stuff - I'm using fotoquote Pro 6 which is quite good, but human feedback is good too! - Thanks for your help, too.

I think I would be asking around a bit for more informatin. It may be that a competing agency would be happy to give you an idea of what to charge for something like this. The way I see it, two factors are at play here; A) the PR agenct is going to take whatever you charge them and mark it up...a lot, and B) Disney may represent wide distribution and exposure, but they are also the most photographed location on earth. The line of photographers behind you willing to give up their shot for less is very, very long. So, while I know you want to be as professional as possible and still earn what you deserve, you want to get this one right and that means getting all the information you can before you give them a price.

Indeed. So I've gone back to them with a few questions...

Exclusive?
Web Use Only?
Distribution?
Geo Locked to US only or Global?

Also, It's a feature for a musician (British) that I photographed last year, the agency were directed to me by the artist's manager (who I've never met, which is very interesting!) -- So I've no doubt that the PR company will have quote Disney for the whole package and they will need to get my images for less, that margin being their profit - So it will be interesting to see what they come back with tomorrow.

How does that sound (for starters?)
