Default price for photographing ... wedding decor

Here's an interesting request I got. Someone is in charge of decorations at a wedding. They want me to go and take pictures of their work (I imagine they want to use these images as examples for future wedding decorating opportunities).

How much would you charge? (I would be giving out the electronic files).

Thank you!

There are a few considerations. When you hand over the electronic files, will they be using them strictly for promotion of their own business? Do you intend to sell publish rights? (i.e. allow them to use the photograph any way they see fit) Are you asking for photo credit on anything they use? Unlimited use or just a one-time for their brochures?

In addition to this (great advice above), if they are asking you to photograph the decor at the reception hall please be aware most wedding photographers have an exclusivity clause in their contract and would likely not look kindly upon your presence. You may be able to slip in well before the other photographer arrives but, in case, it would be a good thing to find out who the photographer is and let them know what you are doing.

Are you into wedding photography yourself? If so, perhaps some cross-promoting would be helpful? If they are going to use your photos in their portfolio, they can offer one of your cards or brochures to the bride as a referral?

Thank you for your replies. Here are the answers to your questions:

Yes, I do intend to sell them publish rights - they can use them however and whenever they decide to. I asked for permission to use them in my portfolio if I will ever need to (right now I am not into wedding photography).

Good point about the wedding photographer. I will be there before the guests come, so our ways should not cross.

No, I didn't ask for photo credit ON what they are using. Just giving them some of my business cards to share with others if they are pleased with my work.
