On a free shoot the last thing you want to do is have to spend your cash on top of giving up your time.
Nothing wrong with helping out a friend, but at least let her cover the print price. Give her a CD of the edited images, a release, and let her worry about where she wants to have them printed. Make sure to have her sign a model release in case you want to use the images on your website, or to promote yourself. |

I recently did a portrait shoot for a cousin, ok I'm not great at this so there was no way I was going to charge. I was happy that she did like some of the photo's I took and eventually chose one. I then arranged to get it printed for her, and she was more than happy to cover the cost of the printing. I'm pretty sure your friend will be happy to do the same once she has seen the results.
P.s you have some very nice photos on your flickr group. Keep it up.

I've generally found that using one of the professional labs is cheaper than the local big chains as odd as it sounds, and of course the quality is better. I had a impromptu meeting with a client and wanted to knock out 20 or so 8x10's for her to look over...flew over to Walgreens and the tab would have been over $70. needless to say I didn't do it but am still kind of shocked a few months later.
I use Nations Photo Lab for all of my printing. They're very good on price and service can't be beaten for me. I usually have my print orders in hand within 48 hours of submission. Their desktop ROES ordering system is painless to use. This might be a good opportunity to try out a couple of labs, especially if the client will cover the cost of the prints, which will probably only amount to a few bucks, which it will. Have to concur with the poster above... looked through your flickr, and I really dig your stuff. Added you on FB too...keep posting that stuff. |
