Default Jewellery, heirloom & antique photography

Here is another of my ideas. How about I go round peoples homes and take photos of their treasures for insurance purposes? Things like jewellery, watches, antique figurines, paintings etc.

I think what the pros use are called light tents. It may take a bit of studying on the net but I think that could be quite a niche area.

The trouble with photographing kids and families is that every man and his dog under the sun owns a digital camera so its really hard to educate people to use my services and as for weddings nah! Its too much like hard work trying to make ugly bridezillas look the picture of wedded bliss!

I thought the "photographing for insurance could be a possibility.

Waddayathink?

How would I do any market reasearch?

I could buy a cheap light tent set up from Amazon and take it to my parents house. Their house is like an Aladdins's Cave! So I can get some practice shots! Obviously once I get a good few clients I want one of these:

Unfortunately, every woman, man and their pets under the sun owns a digital camera and are shooting those type pictures as well. But it's still worth a try.

Thanks for your input Jim. I just want to offer something different to the norm. I'll carry on with various other lines too and hopefully I will get my lucky break. I live a positive life!

I like this saying (don't know who wrote it) but its "If you dream it you can believe it and it you believe it you can achieve it".

Never give up. Do what ever it takes to achieve your dreams.

You might want to do some research into estate photography.

It's extremely niche work but if you can break into it, you'll probably be the only person in your area, so there's that.
