Default Where to sell your work

Hey guys,

I've been taking pics for a little while now, and I'm at a point where I think some of the pictures I take are definitely sell-able, especially since I'm a quality whore However, I have never sold my pics before, or charged for a session. So being at this point, I don't know how to approach this. What are some ways of selling pictures that I have? How do you find people to do sell a session to? Or if anyone can point out some helpful links that would be greatly appreciated too. Sorry for the noob questions, and thanks!

First, choose what you want to sell. Prints? files? Do you want to sell stuff you;ve already taken (as "art" prints) or do you want to do shoots for people?

Only then can we help you any further than that.

Make sure you spell 'Photography' correctly on your website

(you might want to change that OS)

This is more suited to a PM, not a threadjack. Now if you have something to actually help the OP...

As far as selling I have, and am willing to sell both prints and files that I already have taken. At this point, I'm looking at basically all the options and ways to go. The most abundant thing I have by far are files. And I can always get the files printed if needed. I have enough resolution to print things up to 20"+ while still retaining great quality. Just about everything I have printed already are large, high quality prints.

Well you should decide whether youre just going to sell art prints (limited runs of particular images you currently have or take on your own time) or if youre going to do packages as a service for others.

Basically are you going for product or service?

At this point, I would prefer to sell my products, and not my services.

Okay, then you have to market yourself for that.

Find local galleries, post a gallery/portfolio online, create a price list for various sizes. Determine how many of each print you're going to make (if you're limiting yourself), where you'll get them done, what kind of printing, etc.

Then you'll have to do some colour management, likely have to re-edit some of the shots and then get some tests done.

This, of course, is assuming you can find somewhere to show your stuff off. A gallery is ideal, but with the summer season approaching you should also try craft fairs and Art-in-the-Park affairs. Basically, anywhere there is art, you should be there.
