Are you wanting to make an online portfolio or a printed one?

Online: get onto a photosharing site like Flickr, Deviantart, etc. They've got great tools for uploading and organizing your photos.

Printed: have your pictures printed (at a fairly large size) and place them in a portfolio book of some sort. Done.

As for pricing, it's hard to tell. What kind of quality/skill are you exhibiting? What kind of market are you in? What are other photographers of the same caliber charging? How much money do you want to make?

I must confess the question is also a little fussy to me too. Experience level? Newbie or semi-pro? If your new you could use the photo’s your going to take as some for your portfolio. Also if your new, you might not want to charge a lot if you haven’t done it before.

What’s the time line before you shoot? Do you have time to practice with the camera on still life and search the web for posing ideas? Sorry if the answer is a little vague or incorrect, I went with how I read your questions :0)

It's ok, actually, I'm a newbie, this will be the first time taking photos for someone not in my family, This is for a friend's baby, I don't want to charge her, I preffer use this oportunity as publicity, but I imagine that I have to put a price for he prints ( different that the price the studio will give me.)

You want to at least cover costs, so your charge should be at least what it costs you to get things printed. You could probably round up: Say it costs you $36 to get things printed, just charge them $40 or $50

Charge 3 times what it costs. That way if you screw up on the order, you can re-order it correctly and still make some money. If you are going to take all the risk on the order, you should be compensated for it.
