Default art exibition pricing

i have recently decided to enter two of my photographs in an art exhibition. having never thrown my hat into this ring, i have no idea how i should price them. i do not want to low ball myself, but i do not want the prices to be laughably high either.
the pictures will be 8x10 or 9x12. i have not decided yet. i should mention that the images need to be framed and ready to hang on the wall.
what do you think is a reasonable asking price???
thank you all for your advice!

what will your raw material cost for printing/matting.framing be?
what have images sold for in exhibitions/contests of this type in your area before this one?
what cut is the gallery taking?
will you be more gutted if you price too high and don't sell, or sell quickly and realise you did indeed lowball yourself?

consider these questions to help you decide the answer to yours

Subsequently the prediction of the distribution of light elements was also verified by observation adding additional validation of the theory,

Yeah, I noticed that too, but I kept it to myself...

A typical starting point is 3-4 times the cost to you. So, say it cost you $12 to make the c-print, you mat yourself for $6, and buy a frame and frame yourself for $20, you're looking at around $115-$150.

The next question is what is the gallery's commission and do you want to bury that. You may want to add the, say, 20%, commission to your price so it's closer to $140-$180.

If you sign, date (printing date), andnumber your print with a certificate of authenticity stating it's part of a limited run, you can increase the charge a bit.

Now, there's also a theory of prestige pricing. You can, to some degree, determine how much your work is worth. If you sell a print for $10, people will think your work is worth $10. If you price at $1000, there may be some people who will think it's worth $1000. And you only have to sell at that price once to make up for losing the 99% of sales you may have made at $10.
