I am starting my own photography business and am having a bit of trouble deciding on a name. Most things I have read suggest sticking with some sort of variation on my name or initials. Personally, I think this is a bit boring, but realize it may be more professional. Some options I have come up with are:
SK Photography Sarah K Photography Sarah Kate Photography Which of these do you like best? Any other ideas? Would you do the name/initial thing or try to think up a different name entirely? ![]() Some other ideas: Sweet Life Photography Light Impressions Photography Memory Box Photography .........???????????

I'm a fan of naming your business after yourself, to be honest. I like the Sarah Kate Photography. You could do some cute logos with two female names like that...

Think about what your logo is going to look like. Pretty much all the examples you gave sound relatively professional. You want something easy to remember, easy to spell (for searches etc.), and something that will look good as a watermark or logo.

I don`t think this is something we can help you with. I guess you are not sure what to choose for now, and that``s why you are asking for help. But I``m sure you``ll know what to choose soon enough.

I personally agree with someone that said that maybe you're not ready to decide if you're asking. Its not a problem to ask for suggestions but dont decide based on what people say. Use it as a guide and think nice and hard because this name is going to stick with you for a while. Unless you're some prominent photographer in your area I'd say to use your name if you like but otherwise I'd stick with SK Photography. Its uncomplicated and easier to remember. SK still represents your name (your initials) but its so much easier to remember. I did the same thing - Enze is actually N.Z. which are my initials.
Anyways thats my opinion and suggestion but make sure you're 100% before you decide.

Sarah Kate Photography sounds the best to me, too. I have a friend that uses her name as her official business name, but only her initials make up her logo. See here. It looks really nice and clean on her business cards.
