Default Zenfolio or Smugmug?

Ok, couldn't find anything when I searched on Zenfolio.

I'm looking at which service to use to set up shop (so to say). I've looked at a bunch of different services and I've settled on one of these two. One big thing is they both have a Lightroom plugin for uploading--something I really like as it just makes life so much easier.

Anyway, I'm very familiar with Smugmug but not as familiar with Zenfolio. Seems like very similar features for about 33% less (for their premium membership vs. Smugmug's Pro level). If all things are equal, I'd rather use the less expensive one if you know what I mean. However, I don't want to go with Zenfolio if they don't support their customers well. My impressions of Smugmug are they support their customers extremely well. To me, good customer support is worth a few extra dollars.

Any of you use Zenfolio? How do you like it?

Thanks.

I am not on here much but I saw this and thought that I would reply. I have used Zenfolio for a few years now, and am very happy with them. One thing that I love is the 'export to flickr & facebook' options. I am not sure the resizing algorithm they use, but it is by far the best.

You can check my site here jdebordphoto.com
though I am still kind of in the midst of reconstructing it all since they began with all the new features. Also Zenfolio has a free trial, and I would give it a whirl. If you decide to go with Zenfolio, you can use my referral code: B3H-3PG-E1G and save yourself some money.

I am honestly VERY happy with them!

I was wondering the same. I have to make a decision today, and right now I'm leaning towards Zenfolio. I got a coupon for $20 off, which makes it much less than Smugmug. And to top it all off, they work with mpix.com, which is huge on my list.

I'm going to look at exposuremanager as well, just to make Jim happy But in the end, I think Zenfolio is going to win based on price/service.

Thanks. I've looked at Exposure Manager (Thanks Jim!). My only real complaint is no LR plugin. I just don't want to be hassled with yet ANOTHER step in my pp workflow.

Might give Zenfolio a whirl...

I went with Zenfolio...they had everything I needed and was cheaper than the competition.

Highlights:
1. They use mpix.com
2. Digital rights pricing
3. only $80/year after coupon
4. Lightroom Plugin
5. Lots of options for prints/gifts

When I'm all done slapping it together, I'll post a link.

I like smugmug myself. Easy to use, ridiculously good support, excellent print lab options, digital sales, not too expensive,a TON of customization options, and great LR support. Works for me. Try them all out and see what floats your boat.

What is smugmug...125.00 per year? You can do better off with explosuremanager.com at $95.00 per year and the services are the same.

150.00 per year. And they're not the same.
