Hi there Im a amateur photographer but I started a photo a day thread thing on Tumblr and a company that promotes the area I photographed (Wanaka Ski field, Treble Cone) saw one of my photos and asked for a copy of it...
should I charge for emailing a .JPG or just put my signature on it and say here you go pal. I would one day like to make money from my shots but dont really know how to go about it. any advice would be great. Thanks everyone oh and heres the shot: Richard van Wayenburg

Ask them what they want it for. That will dictate how much you charge.

Just my two cents, I probably wouldn't give the image away. You might if you get a great benefit from it like a potential to attract paying jobs, but otherwise charge.
If you do decide to let them use it, paid or not, make sure you spell out how they can use it. If it were me I would only grant limited rights and come to a consensus with them on what those rights would be. For example, web use only, printed materials, can they sell the image as a poster, they can use it for one year then renegotiate, that kinda thing. Cool that some one's interested though, makes you feel good inside doesn't it?

Thanks for the advice you guys
This site is great for tips and advice and I like having the community as a sounding board. ... and yes it does feel good I ended up popping my signature on the bottom with a copyright and letting them use it specifically on their website.
