Default Time spent processing after a session

Hello everyone! It's been a while since I last posted. Good to be back.

Just curious on something.... What is the average time many of you spend post processing after a photo session or wedding?

I know I am spending too much time and am working at better streamlining my post processing process. But I was curious to know how much time many of you are spending pp'g so I have something to compare to.

For a portrait session, I spend about an hour or less processing proofs, and in most cases only a couple minutes per photo once prints are ordered.

The exceptions are when I do composites or other extraodinary processing.

For most shoots, I'd say I would spend about as long processing (download, backup, sort, review, rate, tweak and burn) as I do with the shoot.

Standard studio portraits I can get through much more quickly (usually SOOC save for a little sharpening).

Weddings are a different matter for me - most I can get through quite quickly, but I have been known to spend a couple of days on one image for that killer shot for the couple to hang on the wall.

Thanks gang! Wow, most of you guys can finish post processing a session within 1 - 3 hours?? Assuming (for Captain and outamyway) that a typical session runs between 1 -3 hours.

Yikes. I'm totally missing something here! My sessions last about 2 hours and it takes me about 6 hours to pp a session.

Okay, time to rethink my process!

I usually double my time: half is shooting, half is processing.

I bill them differently, though. 50/hr shooting, 30/hr editing. I know a friend of mine combines them into a 65/hr charge.

Typically takes me 3-5 mins per photo depending on how it turned out SOOC. Some photos of course need nearly NO post processing while others have to be played with a bit more. Today I edited about 10 photos and it took me about an hour.,

Welcome back, J! I've gotten pretty proficient with Lightroom, and can usually get the effects I want in about 5 minutes or less also.

Depends on the assignment and just how many photos that are shot. I can go through 1000-2000 in about a hr or so give or take. Last night I edited a girls basketball game consisting of 200 shots in about five minutes.

That was batch processing using presets, I assume, with all 200 having the same exact changes made, correct?
