I've been considering deleting my Flickr account because I'm worried about my pictures being stolen. In your opinion, is that what makes Flickr so bad? Or is it something else?

I am in agreement with those that are suggesting you do the resizing before you try posting them to FB. Photoshop has a "Save for web" feature that will give you a lot of control in this area. With the FB limits in mind you can post photos that do not require further adjustments when they get to FB. That way you remain in control of the quality.

Dan, this is exactly the problem I've had. Unfortunately, there's not much I can do as the Lightroom exporter doesn't give me the option of changing the colorspace. Of course, I can do all of this manually but that sort of defeats the purpose. Trying to find an easier way to do this...

This is interesting, I'm reading here on Adobe's Color Management Help Page that it uses whatever is pre-embedded in the image, with sRGB as default.

Check your camera to see if it's setup for AdobeRGB or sRGB. If it's Adobe, that setting will only affect the output, not the raw image or how well it corrects / converts, but it will instruct Lightroom to render the output JPEG as an AdobeRGB file.

For any previously created images, there's a batch tool to convert in Bridge. Use that and convert everything from JPEG to a JPEG, preferably in a new subfolder, and tick the checkbox that reads "output as sRGB".

I can't change colorspace on my camera--that I know of. I'm shooting a D50.

What's Bridge? I'm on a Mac so it may not be on the Mac?

I've heard many others complain of the same thing. I use the export plugin for Picasa and Photobucket. The plugin for Facebook seems to have, well, issues. The other plugins allow you to switch colorspace (from what I remember) and you have more control over what you're exporting to (file that is). The FB plugin has very little control. You can't export to a fan page either which is quite frustrating as well.

I don't have experience with the D50, but most all DSLR's offer this feature. On the Sony's and I suspect most others it's located in the same general area as the quality (RAW vs JPEG, resolution, etc) in the menus.

Adobe Bridge is a part of CS4, it's the sort of hub between all the other softwares in the CS suite, stuff like Flash, Photoshop, Acrobat, almost everything can communicate through Bridge to translate between Adobe products.

There may be a way to do it directly from within PS in CS3 or CS4, though to be honest, I don't currently own either. (using GIMP, although I'm trying to get my hands on CS4). I did use CS4 at my last job though, so this is mostly from memory here.

There's also a few tools you can download from the net that can accomplish the same task. One that I did find for Mac is here: PerfX Shots™ - Digital Camera ICC profiling

I watermark all of my photos on any public site. There really is no sure shot way to stop theft, but you can make it very difficult steal, or otherwise get credit for your work. I see a lot of people who don't watermark. In my opinion you can't rely on Flickr for your protection.

I like Flickr because it retains the quality of the photos.

I recently changed the settings on my FlickR account. Now, there isn't the option for others to see or download larger sizes. And when you right click on the image that is available, it wants to save it as a file called, "spaceball". When you open it (or in previews) there's nothing there. I suppose someone could always do a "print screen" or something similar but I would hope the quality wouldn't be so good. I also recently started watermarking all the images I post there.

Ah, have to look at Bridge.

And there is nowhere in the D50 menus to switch colorspace. I've looked many times and have never found anything.
