Whatever you don't post them to a gallery elsewhere other than posting a link to Facebook as to where the parents can go to view the pictures. You'll have more control and nobody can steal your images. Not FlickR either...bad FlickR, bad FlickR.

Thanks. I'm not a Flickr fan myself.

I guess I'm just being too picky with my pics. As someone mentioned, screens people are viewing them on probably aren't calibrated anyway. I always forget that.

I posted some of the wrestling shots I've taken recently to show people. Not really expecting much business (if any) out of it but it's a nice easy (free) way to promote your services. Doesn't really take any time either.

Thanks for all of your replies!

The photos I upload to Facebook are small versions that have already been compressed. You will always have problems when uploading full-size files. It is easier to downsize them before hand.

I posted this question in another area here yesterday. How do you upload photos to your fan page or do you just post links? I can't seem to figure out how to upload photos to a fan page unless I make the files smaller and that's a PITA. When I upload photos to my personal page, I just use the Lightroom plugin....easy peasy...

Make sure you post links for galleries where you can upload photos without the compression.

i.e. Flickr, Multiply, etc.

There's also an excellent plug in to upload to facebook, that automatically compresses and limits the longest side. I find it extremely useful because it saves a lot of time and can even export off of RAW's (I shoot RAW so it's important to me) by rendering the images as jpgs.
It's available for LR2 and LR3 but the name escapes me. I'll find out and let you know later tonight.

I have that but, apparently, it can only export to personal pages--not a fan page.

Still trying to figure out a good way to export to my fan page...

I think there is a very obvious difference in Facebook versus Flickr rendering. I was very upset to find that my photos were losing so much detail and crispness on FB, I'm still posting my 365 on FB, but have now begun uploading them to Flickr. The two images below, although different sizes, clearly show the difference!

If the colors are desaturated, especially the reds, and the contrast seems muted, then it's likely a color-space issue.

If you're outputting your image as AdobeRGB (common in PS or in-camera), which has a lot more "room" for reds as well as other colors, and it then gets uploaded to FB and they render it as sRGB (standard web colorspace) then the extra "room" in the reds will usually get added to where it shouldn't, and you end up with very flat red tones as well as other colors, and the contrast generally lowers as well a bit.

In general, whenever putting anything on the web, make sure it's in sRGB color-space. Anything else is asking for trouble on the web.

As an aside, I can't tell you how much of a problem we had with this at the photo lab I managed for 3 years. Customers simply didn't understand that we weren't a pro-lab, and our machines simply don't understand anything other than standard RGB (sRGB). Everything other than sRGB simply came out looking like garbage, much the way it looks when viewed over the web.

Don't feel bad if this is the problem, I've seen numerous photographers have this issue even with their online portfolios.
