Default An idea for selling pictures

I got an idea about selling pictures yesterday, but I don't know if that could work or not.

Usually people don't carry cameras around when they go to the beach,so what I thought is maybe I can take photos for them after asking their permission, and then they can purchase those picures after I put those pictures on my mebsite,if they decide they don't want those pictures I will delete it immediatly.
Do you guys think its workable? Is there any portrait right against this?
please give me some opinion about this, thank you~

If you have a really touristy beach, maybe. Otherwise, you may be seen as a creep if you are not careful.

I'm not sure what beach you're talking about but in my experience, everyone and their dog has a camera at the beach.

Just my two cents.

They do this at baseball games in NY. What they do is take your picture and then hand you a card with a code to enter when you go to the website. This way only you can see your picture and they know which shots are of which people.

kirbinster makes a good point.
The only way I see this working without you seeming like a creep is with a sophisticated ticketing system.
But I am not aware of any web-script or module that would allow you to do this on your own website. That may be a long and hard google search.

When I first read your post I thought, "Yeah ok. You can hand them a card with your URL and walk on". But without a reference of the picture number you would get a lot of grief from people saying "I don't want other people seeing this" or "How do I make sure I'M the only person who can buy this?". So you would have to gear your website to have a unique reference number (as this would allow you to fall back on this and say "Only someone with that unique reference can see this picture").

Are you SURE? Most of those "shoot lots, hope some buy" type operations aren't that sophisticated. Not in amusement parks, not in athletic stadiums. The process of generating a unique code for each photo or set of photos is daunting at that scale.

That said, if there IS such a system in place, I could use it for some of the events I run and would love some information if there is any to be had.

Currently, I group galleries from some mass events by color in blocks of 50. I name my files in camera; Red, Grn, Yel, Blu etc and shoot a group before changing the name. I have sets of 50 cards made up with a colored dot on them and instructions to access the main gallery, then the gallery with the color of the dot.

That doesn't keep anyone from seeing photos other than their own though and for what I do at least, that isn't really a concern.

Before the border protection scheme, there were several photo businesses in some Asian and Eastern European countries who took photos of people coming out of arrivals. By the time they clear customs and immigration, the photos were all laid out on a long table for sale! People buy them as they don't want their photos just,,, laying around some strange airport! It's good that I don't see that anymore... .

Take a look at these sites. They take your shots, and you locate them on their site by time frames.
killboy.com photos - The Original Photographer from US129 Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap
US129Photos.com, Photos on the Dragon, US129, Deal's Gap, NC
Zee Foto, Deals Gap, North Carolina Photography and Photos, The Dragon, Nature, and Moto
hope that helps
