So we want ...landscape shots but with the foreground in focus as well.. see if you can make it interesting

Also please remember to keep image size down to 600px wide or smaller it helps with out bandwidth and keeps forum in-line Picture Size **Please Read Before Posting** thanks gang

Our landscape is due to be covered in snow tomorrow so I'm not sure how I will get interest in the foreground when it's all white! So until the thaw or my kids build a great snowman here's one I made earlier!

Beautiful pictures, Leisa and tad2106. I have to admit, this is a good assignment for me. I really don't pay attention to foregrounds very much. It's too cold out to try to get a new shot, so I went through my older ones looking for something to fit the assignment. That's when I realized I needed work in this area ! Here's what I have:

Looking forward to trying the ideas from the DPS blog!

Saralonde,

Grab a refrigerator box from your local appliance store, lay it on the ground for "down-and-dirty" or just shield yourself if there's wind. Leave it, toss it later, it'll help you enjoy this snow.

Took this today. I had some with an even lower viewpoint, but I thought this looked better with a tiny bit of the sky showing over the bridge.

Default Grand Canyon

I love these kind of shots. I went to the Grand Canyon in January, I'll make a slide show one of these days.

I don't know if this fits the assignment. I've never had a photography course so this web site is great and gets me thinking about planning a picture. I am just having fun with my camera...I guess that is what it is all about!

This one was tough, I had to go through YEARS of photos to find something I was happy with (I know I know, I should go out and take something new, but time doesn't really permit). Atleast I know i will definetly be aware of this when shooting land/city scapes next time!

Steam

I used the reflection of the water as foreground interest (knowingly).

I have better ones, and perhaps I'll dig one up later, but here is a shot I took this morning while thinking about the assignment:

Snow - Slow Shutter Speed #6

I think it would have been better without the dirty window but it kept me warm and unobtrusive; my aim was catching ghostly figures and cars walking through the snow. I think it is helped by the rose bush in the foreground adding to the candid character of the shot.
