[QUOTE=sdhondatuner;698725]This is the wall of windows on the music building at my college reflecting the cafeteria building. I was looking for something different from the cliche falling-apart-wood-window-frame window shot I've seen reproduced ten-thousand times, so all metal is good.

You know, sdhondatuner, my old dad used to say, "Don't put your mouth in motion until your brain is in gear!"

I am hoping that your crass statement about "something different from the cliche falling-apart-wood-window-frame window I've seen reproduced ten-thousand times . . ." wasn't directly aimed at the post right before yours or anyone else's photo of an old window. Some may think that cold-sterile-metal-and-glass windows on modern buildings are cliche, but the wiser person would not dis someone's photo of something else.

DPS has always been a friendly, warm, and helping place to post, learn about, and discuss photos. Let's try to keep it that way, please.

Thank you for your opinion... I didn't mean to offend. I've personally taken the falling-apart-wood-window-frame shot a hundred times myself. I was looking to try something different and I'm not picking on anyone who has taken or will take that shot. Maybe cold-sterile-metal-and-glass is cliche too. But truth be said, and I'm sure I'm not alone here, the falling-apart-wood-window-frame shot was the first thing to come to mind when I saw that the assignment was "window." I hope we'll get to see new and exciting interpretations of "window" in the week to come.

Default Assignment: Windows

This isn't your typical window but I have it titled "A Window in Time." This was taken at Mesa Arch, Canyonlands Utah, USA on Oct 9 around 06:30 MST. I see the arch as a window looking into the future just before the sunrise separating it from the dark, starry sky of the night as shown in the upper left hand corner. To me it's a message showing us all that there is always light at the end of the tunnel.

i was lucky enough to assist shooting a wedding on the 11th. Here is the bride getting ready in front of a window. The lighting looked great -- backlit, but not quite silhouette. The small room didn't allow for a normal lens. I got low and wide. Lightly bounced my lp120 at 1/32 power off the ceiling to bring some dress detail back.

I took this October 12 just outside Shannon, Ireland on the Bunratty Castle grounds. Lovely traditional Irish cottage.

Default Assignment Windows

There are not too many nice days as far as the weather goes this week, but I got out yesterday and went looking for windows. I actually have three different pictures that I wanted to submit but I will just post one. This is a window at a church that had some very pretty flowers out front.
Taken 10/13/09 with my Canon Powershot S3IS
Program Mode
No Flash
Aperature f/4
Auto ISO

I did soften it some in paintshop pro.
