Posting this a little early as my internet keeps disappearing ...

soo this week we are after smoke photos ..
here are a couple that i did up quickly yesterday morning before my kid woke up...lol
i had a lot of fun...

with this one i duplicated the layer, then mirrored it ,changed the layer properties to lighten, then merged the layers, added an Hue/ Saturation layer to change the colours Happy Halloween!!!!

Hear me scream...

this one i leaned over the incense while breathing in... (not so good feeling afterwards though...lol) has my SB-800 speedlight of to the side, In Lightroom all i did then was de-saturate and adjust the contrast...

Smoke | DPS Assignment


So if you would like to enter the mini contest please make sure you have taken the photo between 24th October and 7th Nov. Leave the EXIF data intact.... and label your post with "Assignment : Smoke"


Next weeks assignment will be " Everyday Artifacts" capture "ordinary things," (i.e. simple or common everyday objects) in a new, different or interesting way.

this is a nother that i was playing with

Just changed the smoke colour via hue/saturation and erased the smoke below my hand

On fire...

Darn a couple days too early, taken Oct 21st at approx 3pm

Smoke from the Buckweed fire, 2 miles from our home.

The smell from the fires is still heavy in the air, over a week later.

I tried to get some last night as my first attempt at an assignment but no luck. Will have to read up more on it.

Shot using Fujifilm finepix s6500fd
iso: 100
f/2.8
focal length: 6.2mm
exposure: 1/125 sec

Used a torch to light the smoke as other ways were frustrating me.
Added the blue hue, and sharpened it up a bit (125% i think)

Long time since i last did an assignment too...

only took me 150 shots to get a few good ones lol
