Default Assignment: Headshot (15 Oct - 29 Oct)

This weeks assignment is "Head Shots" from the neck up, making the face your feature... it can be a self portrait of a portrait of someone else.

1. The image you submit should be taken between the 15th of October (when it was announced) and the 29th of October (until one of the moderators closes the the mini-contest).

2. Your post must include "Assignment: Headshot" (to show your permission to count it for the contest) and the date the picture was taken (to show that it is a valid entry).

3. EXIF data should be intact. It helps if you can include the main points (including camera, lens, date taken, ISO, shutter speed and aperture) in the text of your message.

4. Only one entry per member (if you can't restrain yourself until the end of the first week you can post two or three separate pictures but your entry should be in a separate post and the only marked with the text above).

5. Remember the cross-site image size limit (640px on the longest side).

6. If the image does not exist in post at the end of the contest, it is disqualified. If you modify anything on flickr and re-save the image then the link is broken and the message needs edited to link the picture again before it will be included in the contest.
For everyone, please do not repeat other people's photos by quoting them until the contest is over. If you want to comment on or discuss an entry you can use a link to it (or just delete the picture from the quoted text).

************************************************** *******
NEXT WEEK! - SOMETHING SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT

We have a "sponsor" for next weeks assignment which will run for two weeks instead of the regular one - There will be a prize for the entry that I choose at the end...

thinkTank Photo have very kindly donated a Rotation 360 camera backpack* to DPS for the winner of the assignment competition.

I will put the topic up in a couple of days, so make sure you check back here for the topic and then get shooting!!...

TOPIC FOR THE NEXT ASSIGNMENT IS:
"WHAT'S IN YOUR BAG"
The idea behind the topic is this, I want to see what's in your bag, creatively... A shot of your bag / how you use your bag... So, get shooting

- the entry judged best will win a thinkTank Rotation 360

*my decision is final, there is no alternative prize, if you don't want a camera bag you can choose to donate it to someone else, I will post it from London to anywhere in the world.

Got a park just down the road called Chisholm Trail Park. They have statues of Longhorns and Settlers.

This is the Swedish Lady, complete with bonnet. Wanted the head more than the full bonnet. The Statue is a good 7 feet tall, bigger than life size.

ooh only just spied this thread and luckily earlier this evening I was taking some head shots of my brother-in-law who wanted some pictures to give to his girlfriend as a present.

phil 1

haven't really much experience of shooting other people like this (but shooting self portraits for the last 365 days seems to have been great practice after all )

Since I took pictures at the local Renaissance Festival that recently ended I have a few headshots around. Aside from the Knight that was in the costumes assignment, here is another favorite of mine:

KCRF 2008 Brodd the Troll

That bag looks awesome Sime. Thanks for working with them on that opportunity!
