Default Auto-Mode! (30 Jul - 13 Aug)

This weeks assignment is "Auto-mode". Here is Wulf's sample image:

Quote:
This week the challenge is to see what you can get out of your camera in full auto mode. If I had taken this shot manually, I would probably either have used a wide aperture, slow shutter speed and higher ISO to capture the foliage or exposed for the sky leaving the foreground as a silhouette. My D40 wanted to use the flash instead but actually I do think the balanced exposure works quite nicely...

Camera: Nikon D40
Exposure: 1/80s
Aperture: f/4.8
Focal Length: 35mm (18-55mm kit lens)
ISO Speed: 400
Flash: Flash fired, auto mode

Whatever camera you've got, set the dial to auto. Take as much care as you like picking the subject and composition but leave those settings alone. To further level the playing field, no post-processing for this one either!

Now go and take some stunning photos in auto mode!

Here are the rules:

1. The image you submit should be taken between the July 30 (when it was announced) and August 13 (up until one of the moderators closes the the mini-contest).

2. EXIF data needs to be intact. It helps if you can include the main points (including camera, lens, date taken, ISO, shutter speed and aperture) in the text of your message.

3. Your post must include "Assignment:Auto-mode" to show your permission to count it for the contest.

4. Only one entry per member (if you can't restrain yourself until the end of the first week you can post two or three separate pictures but your entry should be in a separate post and the only marked with the text above).

5. Remember the cross-site image size limit (640px on the longest side).

For everyone, please do not repeat other people's photos by quoting them until the contest is over. If you want to comment on or discuss an entry you can use a link to it (or just delete the picture from the quoted text).

*** Next week's assignment is "Affirmative". Show positive things: signs, applause, thumbs up, etc.. ***

Try to get it perfect in camera - you can either go for careful framing to avoid the need for a crop or, pushing the other way, take lots of shots and pick one that stands out. Pretend you haven't got access to ANY post processing software.

Next week's assignment will be added shortly - we're batting between a couple of ideas.

Default Assignment: Auto-Mode!

A local park has an entrance sign with a flower box on each side. I liked the riot of color.

You want to put "Assignment: Auto-Mode" in your post somewhere. The Moderators need access to your EXIF info, so you may want to put that in your post also. You may want to read the first post from Sime for all the rules.

I see you are new here, so we'll let it slide this time.
