Default *** The Final Assignment [For now!] -- Wide Angle - 21 Aug - 4 Sept

Hello everyone! It has been a while since I posted an assignment!

UPDATE : We're working our way around dPS to update this and change that, the hope is to make a better, easier to play with community for all of you. As a result of that, we're going to hold off on the weekly assignment here in the forum.

This will be the last of the assignments for a while

We're sorry, we don't have a date or plan to reintroduce the assignment at this stage. You're welcome to ask any question below / in the comments.

MEANWHILE! Wide Angle. Show us your best "Wide Angle" photograph.

Basically, wide angle is 35mm or shorter - but we'll leave this open to your interpretation.

This is an old photo I took in Cuba a few years ago - it was taken at 10mm

    Assignment - Wide Angle

    Aperture Unknown
    Focal Length 10 mm
    ISO 100

    Don't forget the rules...

    Some rules to follow:

    1. Just a note to new posters: DO NOT start a new thread for your post. Please just hit the reply button at the bottom of any current post and put your image there.

    2. You may include exif information (including camera, lens, date taken, ISO, shutter speed and aperture) if you wish. Being able to see EXIF data helps others to learn.

    3. This should be an original image taken by you. You can show an older shot, but it's best to stay within the spirit of the assignment and take one specifically for the assignment. It keeps you thinking about photography. Please try to post just one image. Choose the shot you feel is your best.

    4. Remember the cross-site image size limit (740px on the longest side).

    5. For help with posting images, check the FAQ at the top of this page and click on "Posting Images". It will give you a detailed explanation.

    6. If you are a new member or one that has less than 25 posts, do not be surprised if you can't see your post immediately. Our spam control is working. A mod will be by within 24 hours or so to approve it, so try not to post twice. Thank you.

I am sad and disappointed to see this is the final assignment - even if it's temporary. I've personally enjoyed the challenges since March of this year, and feel like I have learned a lot from participating as well as learning so much from the contributions of the other participants. Thank you DPS - hope you get the problems resolved quickly, and are back soon. I don't have my photo set to post here yet, but wanted to take the opportunity to let you guys know that. Hope to see this feature back soon.

    Default Assignment : Wide Angle

I am saddened to learn that this will be the last assignment. I was unhappy earlier this year when the 'judging' was suspended, but I was hopeful that things would resume back to normal. Obviously that hasn't happened, and this time I am not going to hold my breath that the assignments will return any time soon. It was the assignments that initially attracted me (and many others) to DPS, and I think that eliminating the assignments will only serve to reduce traffic to DPS.

You've really given us no explanation so I can only assume this is a business and personnel decision. I hope you can figure out a solution soon. I think this assignment forum and DPS in general has been an excellent site...I hate to see this wonderful community dwindle away.

I am also dissapointed about the way you are closing this must be underestimating the value this community brings to our daily dose of joy and beauty. I hope you re-open it soon, better and brighter.

My wide angle today speaks about innocence and loneliness. Or loneliness in innocence.
It's been great learning from all of you and hope to re-connect soon!
