Default Assignment: From the hip

I coincidentally took this picture last Saturday not aware of the upcoming assignment.

OK, I actually did take this picture while driving at a little over 70 mph, but there was no traffic whatsoever and I really liked how the sky looked.

I didn't want to stop so I just held the camera with one hand and the steering wheel with the other. I was surprised at how well the composition turned out considering I couldn't look in the viewfinder. I obviously did some post processing but I like it better than the SOOC shot.

View down the highway..

Exif:
Camera: Nikon D40
Exposure: 0.001 sec (1/1600)
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 18 mm
ISO Speed: 200
Exposure Bias: 0 EV

20080525 RV Graveyard

Camera: Olympus E-500
Exposure: 0.003 sec (1/400)
Aperture: f/11
Focal Length: 18 mm
ISO Speed: 320
Exposure Bias: 0/10 EV
Date and Time (Original): 2008:05:25 11:06:41

This was taken just sticking my camera out of the window while going 60mph down I-4 on our way to Melbourne Beach. I've been wanting to get a shot of this display before the owner has to take it down (County Zoning is beating him up about it). I think it's pretty damn cool myself...sure beats the big hokey looking Tyrannosaurus Rex at Dinasaur World on the opposite side of the interstate, LOL! The owner has an Airstream camper dealership next to this "camper graveyard."

Caught in Time

Totally unplanned and hurried (someone was in a hurry to get home and had no patience to keep standing still). Shot while walking home from today's early morning photo shoot and flower hunt. Both were successful!

I feel lucky to have caught a bit of our feet in the frame to show movement. I also feel lucky to even have a usable shot since I was taking the pics with my left hand (I'm right handed) in a disjointed position covering the LCD so I could reach the shutter release with my thumb while my right hand was holding hers, while walking and trying to keep my arms from looking like I was holding a camera, keeping distance between us, etc.!

I decided it wasn't similar to Igor's after all since his was taken in the evening.

EXIF:
Exposure: 0.004 sec (1/250)
Aperture: f/8
Focal Length: 7.4 mm
ISO Speed: 80
Exposure Bias: 0/3 EV
Flash: Flash did not fire

Default Assignment: From The Hip

Took this while out on a walk, I just pressed the shutter while the camera was hanging. Now why can't they all come out this sharp and clear? Maybe I'm thinking too much about the settings, cause I sure wasn't thinking about this one!

Hip Shot -- School Bus

The important information:
Camera: Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi
Exposure: 0.008 sec (1/125)
Aperture: f/14
Focal Length: 70 mm
ISO Speed: 100
Exposure Bias: -1/3 EV
Flash: Flash did not fire
Sorry but I don't remember which lens was on the camera that day.

The shot was taken just around the corner from the tower falls. At the risk of dropping my Nikon D60 into the yellowstone river, I took a couple of shots, this being the best.

After the fall

Close enough -- brighter light coming down.

But thanks, see it -- but can't really frame it.

Nice choice for assignment this week.
