At this moment I am doing my masters thesis of Leiden University in the Netherlands. As a great photography fan I wanted to shoot my own coverpicture ofcourse. My topic is Corporate Social Responsibility ( more specific; The effects of online CSR communication ).
Well, until now i wasnt succesfull in finding/taking a good shot thats shows CSR, even a flickr and Google search doesnt help me... Might be a chaliging assignment with a nice goodwill accent. Ofcourse i would love to publish the winning photo on my thesis cover. If this is nog becoming an assignment, feel free to contact me about your pictures/ideas. Email: leiden@svenblom.nl greets, Sven |

I didn't see it mentioned but what about an
If things could talk You know how when we see clouds some look like faces, or trees look like they are dancing or how a house can look mean. It would be neat if we had an assignment to capture this. |

Hi Darren & Moderators,
As a beginner, I'll use your assignments as a way to practice photography. But after posting the assignment (I post 2 assignment so far), I did not get sense, am I doing right. So.. is it possible if moderator - who give the assignment - make a comment or score the result (pass or not pass technically, not necessary artisticaly good). I understand it's an additional work for moderator, but I believe it will give invaluable benefits for member, especially for beginners. Thank you. Regards, |

Potr8,
As a poster, I'll sympathize with your sense of "Is anyone out there?" It took some time to realize, in Assignments a response is an unusual occurence. If someone shares an interest in the photo's subject, or just really really likes it, then a short reply will appear. If grades are given, mine have been lost in the (e)mail for months. I believe you can get a really good sense of how you're doing by the overall response to your work, so the more you participate, the more you'll know how much progress there is. I remember your Red Lotus, and with the message there, I didn't comment. It was as fine as most of the DOF submissions. Your infrared train was something out of my area of experience, and got a number of responses. That was a good feeling, wasn't it. That's when I started enjoying the forum, after the first few comments. Hope you keep posting; it's worth waiting a bit to feel a cumulative appreciation for a larger body of work. Photos, comments, suggestions, adding to "Chat" threads, your experiences in techniques . . . this will be your portfolio. And "Critique..." is the best place to find out what people really think.

Well, I have a thing for shooting on the fly, so how about these ideas?
flower macros, but only something growing wild nature textures (like treebark closeups) altered perspectives (maybe a wide-angle kind of thing?) the city beautified (ie, someone's attempt to pretty up the place, like sidewalk art or ornate building facing, complex plaza grounds with pretty tile inlays, etc. not sculpture, must be inherent part of structure... did that make sense?) Trash as commentary/our culture of waste the hectic life coffee! (hey, I'm in Seattle, I had to say it) people with cellphones my Cubicle and what resides therein... ok, back to work. Meg |

I am suprised that this was not already an assignment but I think food would be a good assignment. I dunno if someone already suggested it or not but it would be interesting to see what everyone can do with this.
