Default canon versus nikon

Ok I saw the thread about the nikon versus canon thread but I seem to have a few questions.

I currently have a Fujifilm S7000 love the camera but want to upgrade to one where you can change out lenses.

I used to use my 35mm a lot before switching to digital.

I had a canon ae-1 program so I have a few lenses sitting around.

I went to wolf camera to ask questions compare etc. But they only had nikon and got a resounding no on the lense. He said well we have sony and nikon I prefer the nikon.

I have the following lenses (35mm)
sakar 75-300mm lense
canon 50mm lense says fd on the front
tokina 70-210mm lense
sakar 28mm lense

They all say 58mm.

If I cant use the lenses that is no big deal.

Now in looking at the newer digital cameras. I'm looking at two types.

Nikon D90 or the Canon T1i.

Pictures I take are of the wife and kids, landscapes, cars, bikes animals.

MY kids don't like to sit still so I do a lot of burst pictures where i take multiples to get one good one.

I would love some educated input. I value all different types of input except buy a nikon cause I use one.

Thanks
Richard

The lenses you used with your AE-1 are NOT going to work with any Canon camera. You can get adapters for them, but it's usually not worth the effort or cost.

If youre looking at the T1i and D90, then it can depend on how they feel in terms of useability. Also keep in mind that the D90 is a half-step above the T1i in the range, so it's going to be both a bit more expensive and better spec'd.

Do you want wireless flash control for portraits or other things? Do you want better video from your SLR?

Those are gonna be two good base questions to ask. The big one, though, is how theyre going to feel in-hand.

I would suggest NOT going back to that store and finding another one with both. For a Wolf Camera to not carry Canon is ludicrous.

Makes sense on the lenses now I know.

I got told that they did not renew their contract due to not enough sales.

Video I don't really care about due to have a hd video camera.

Wireless flash would be nice.

I've been doing a lot of my wife's head shots for her acting gigs so if the wireless option is there then that is a plus.

I've got a speedlite ttl flash (Di 481N) does that work with both?

Thanks for all the info.

Yeah I held the nikon but could only compare it to the sony. So it was not truely comparing it to what I wanted.

If you want wireless flash right out of the box, all you need is the D90 and a Nikon SB speedlight and you're ready to go. The SB-600 is cheap, powerful and will work with the wireless system. That'd be my recommendation.
