that really sucks but it looks like the water and the tumbling around might have killed it.
you might be able to salvage the pics on the memory card though. let it dry for about a week or so before trying to get anything off it.

if you do take it into the camera store - DO NOT tell them it went in the wash, or that it got wet - they wont even bother looking at it, and will just say "weeeellll it got wet, what do you expect?!"
Just act all ignorant and say it was in the drawer of your desk (or somewhere which is dry) and you havent used it for a while, charged it up, and this happened.... that way they will actually investigate it, or send it away to be investigated. I know this is 'dishonest', but the number of times I have been told incorrectly that a device is broken and theres nothing you can do, and only to find a way to repair it on some forum - then have to find someone who can do the job which I know how to do, but dont have the soldering skills for. okay I havent had a water damaged issue, but still the principle holds. I feel that todays society encourages replacement too much, especially the technology-related fields. Just my 2c |
