Unhappy Washed Digital

I am pretty sure I know what the answer is going to be here....but...maybe, maybe by some shred of luck here someone will be able to tell me there can be a positive outcome to this...
My "new" little point and shoot Leica lens digital camera has gone through the wash. Yes the battery and the mem card were in it at the time. It was also in it's neoprene type case.
When it was discovered it was dry...I took out the battery, charged it and when replaced a little green light came on on the back of the camera. That light is said to be there if something has gone wrong w/the LED screen. Nothing else has come on since, and the lens covering does not open. Please tell me this has happened to one of you before, and just like all the washed cell phones, my little camera will eventually come back to life?? Anyone?? Thanks..Allison

that really sucks but it looks like the water and the tumbling around might have killed it.

you might be able to salvage the pics on the memory card though. let it dry for about a week or so before trying to get anything off it.

if you do take it into the camera store - DO NOT tell them it went in the wash, or that it got wet - they wont even bother looking at it, and will just say "weeeellll it got wet, what do you expect?!"

Just act all ignorant and say it was in the drawer of your desk (or somewhere which is dry) and you havent used it for a while, charged it up, and this happened.... that way they will actually investigate it, or send it away to be investigated.

I know this is 'dishonest', but the number of times I have been told incorrectly that a device is broken and theres nothing you can do, and only to find a way to repair it on some forum - then have to find someone who can do the job which I know how to do, but dont have the soldering skills for. okay I havent had a water damaged issue, but still the principle holds. I feel that todays society encourages replacement too much, especially the technology-related fields.

Just my 2c
