I often recommend the Nikon D40 -- or nowadays, the D5000 or D3000. They're great little cameras, relatively cheap (I don't know the exchange rate at all, sorry), very light to carry, and easy to use. I'd give them a try at a local store, if you have one that will let you try them!

Where have you been for the last 2 years?
What do you shoot? What length do you want? not sure what you have available to you, but it's hard to go wrong with anything Nikkor AF prime. 50mm f/1.8D AF and and 35mm f/1.8G AF-S are probably the most common and cheap, especially if you don't know what you want. There are others that some prefer for portrait (85mm, even 105mm,..), there are more expensive fast lenses (50mm 1.4G, 85mm 1.4, ..,) There are many options. You can start with the cheapest 50mm f/1.8 to see if it suits your needs and then go from there.
