Smile Pentax K7 on its way to me.

Hello,

I spent a lot of time mulling over the Pentax K7 or Canon 50D. I have an older Canon Rebel XT that has worked fine for 4 years and I am not heavily invested in lenses. I took the plunge and bought the Pentax K7 as I still have my old Pentax ME Super film camera from years back and I loved it.

I am anxiously waiting for my K7, but would like to hear from anybody in the forum who already has one.

Thanks

Laurence

You just reminded me I need to update my gear in my signature block. I got my K-7 release week and it's one of the few expensive major purchases I haven't had ANY buyer's remorse about at all. I'm a particularly average build, with particularly average hands, and the ergonomics feel like the thing was molded directly for me.

What kind of lenses do you still have for your ME super? I've found the K-7 to be easier to focus with the stock viewfinder than the K20D was, although the difference is very slight, but since one of my favorite lenses is my SMC-M 50, it was worth it to me to replace the K20D's focusing screen with a katzeye optic's microprism screen. They've just released the K-7 version and I'm very tempted. The K-7 with an after market focusing screen and will be about as close to the feel of an old film camera that you can possibly get.

It's an extremely satisfying camera, and the wait for the battery to charge will be some of the longest hours of your life.

Default My K7 has landed

Hello,

Thanks for the reply. My K7 arrived and so far all I can say is WOW!!
I am happy I chose this camera. The size is just right, and the features are excellent. I really like the capability to review the white balance on screen after the shot was taken.

I have a standard 50mm Pentax lens, and a Tokina 80-200 F2.8. Both are 25+ years old.

I did splurge and bought the DA* 16-50 F2.8 with the camera, and I love the silent focus.
I will add more review comments after the weekend.

Thanks
