Awesome! For some reason I get the feeling that by going with the D5000 I'm getting a lower quality, or more entry-level camra... I'm hoping that won't be the case. Thank you all much!

The main things that the D300 has to offer are professional features -- things that makes it easier to take photos. The image quality you get will be about the same, no matter what.

For example, the D300 has considerably more ability to work with older lenses. It has more AF points for more detailed focusing, and it has the ability to use two cards at once (such as SD and CF). None of these will keep you from composing and taking a great photo -- they just might make it easier for you to use your camera professionally, all day long.
