point and shoot recs!

Hi - I am looking for recommendations for a point and shoot. I am purchasing this for my mother and her list of "wants" are as follows:

quick focus/snapping (she hates the Panasonic Lumix i bought her because the delay is so long)
sharpness
ease of use

$300 or below would be preferred. I would really appreciate any feedback you have to offer. I have poured over reviews on amazon and just ended up more confused. I have always gotten great advice on here so I thought I would give it a try. Thanks again.
