Default why don;t we have stickies?

Alot of other forums have stickied threads at the top of a forum for common questions, call it a faq if you want, but it seems like canon v nikon and "looking for first dslr" are soooo common, and alot of the knowledge is repeated, that it would be easy to assemble one solid post and sticky it at the top for any to read.... granted it would not be able to address the current line up of cameras but at least generally speaking i would be a big head start.

It's not a bad thought, but given the fact that most people don't take the time to read the one sticky at the front of all of the critique forums or SYS forums, or even use the search feature to find the exact question that was asked yesterday, it seems to me that it's likely a sticky with frequently asked questions is going to be overlooked or ignored outright.

We could even have a sticky that we can reference to remind people to read the stickies...

We do have stickies at the top of many of the sub-forums of the site but there is the obvious problem of what things to pin there. However, don't miss the FAQ link in the navigation bar towards the top of every page.
