I have the S95 and I find it to be a great little camera. I can't speak for the others.

I shot this on the Maid of the Mist at Niagara Falls this summer. Didn't want to take my 7D on that trip! LOL

In that case the Fuji may be for you.... It's pushing the boundaries of "pocket" though.

It's your money and your choice, but in my opinion, just about any modern digicam can take excellent snapshots of friends and family. That's what they're primarily designed to do. If you're not going to be printing poster-sized, you probably won't be able to tell the difference between prints from a $70 Kodak Easyshare and prints from a $1200 Fuji X100.

But like I said, it's your money and your choice.

Yes. S95 uses a CCD sensor, the S100 uses a CMOS sensor. The S100's lens is different, offering a larger zoom range, but is 1/2 a stop slower over that range. It also includes GPS geotagging and full 1080 HD video capability. It is a nicer camera, but then it's also newer and more expensive and kind of tough to find. Be aware that dpreview did find a decentering issue in the lenses on the copies they got.

You may also want to look at the Panasonic LX-5, and the Olympus XZ-1.

If you plan to shoot fast action, the Nikon 1 cameras may be worth considering, as long as high iso noise performance and dynamic range aren't of ultimate importance to you, and by pocketable, you mean jacket pocket, not shirt pocket.

I second the olympus xz-1 recommendation - good jpg engine, and nice bright lens.

Depends on your definition of pocketable. A lot of the mirrorless bodies will fit in a jacket or cargo pocket (especially with a pancake prime), and give you a huge jump in IQ over compacts.
