Default I need some advice

I am new to the forums and I have been reading through some of the threads but I really need some advice.I have been looking for a camera for about 8 months now and I still cannot come up with a decision.

I am looking for a camera that can take a good picture at night with a light beating right at it. i take a lot of pictures of cars and when its a little dark out and their headlights are on its very hard to get a good shot of the car since the headlights over power the whole photo. I also would like to shoot a quick 1080p video if I'd like to capture something.

I'm looking at, the D90, D7000, T2I, and the D5100 which I want to avoid due to the lack of the auto focus motor.

I'm sure this question comes up all the time but I need some help!

Thank you

Welcome to DPS. If those were my choices, I'd go with the D7000.

This is going to be my first SLR so I am worried that the D7000 would be to complicated

I think you're looking for the impossible. Cameras (whether film or digital) can only capture a limited range of brightness. If you're willing to have the headlights and other highlights "blown out", all you need to do is to adjust your Exposure Compensation in whatever camera you have now.

Or if it's feasible, use supplemental lighting such as flash.

Fuji cameras with their EXR sensor can capture a wider range of brightness than most other cameras, so if you're determined to buy a new camera to deal with this, that'd be what I'd recommend you look at. I still don't think it'll be enough to do the job for you, though.

There really is only one way around this: HDR. And even then, it's gonna look fake as hell
