Hi,
I was looking for some dSLR reviews and found this forum. I am looking to buy my first DLSR. I found two choices respecting my budget for first DSLR - Nikon D5100 and Canon 550D. My main interest of photography includes landscape, macro and wild life/bird (not so often). Please suggest me which one is better among these two. If there is any other better in this price range, please suggest. Also suggest me suitable lenses according to my photography interest. Thanks a ton, Mihir |

There is no right or wrong answer here. Some people in this forum will always suggest the Canon, other the Nikon, mostly because that's what they have grown used to.
I suggest reading some reviews (good ones are found on Digital Camera, DSLR and Lens Reviews | Cameralabs), but there are many others, including lens reviews and videos, that explain a lot of the differences etc. between cameras and lenses. Next step would be to go in the store and try both of them. How do they feel in your hand etc. Most likely by then you will favor one over the other. As far as the lenses go, most of the time the counsel is given to go with the kit lens at first and learn how to use them and how to get the most out of them. Then after the initial learning curve you will know what would be the next step for you, and what more you want from your lenses. BTW welcome to the forum. Happy shooting. Let us know what you decide camera wise.
