I am at a point where I am ready to move to the next level with photography. I currently shoot for a local University's athletic department covering volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball, tennis, soccer, golf, and cross country. I shoot a Canon 40D with a Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 lens and a Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 lens. I also rent other lenses throughout the season as needed, such as a Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 II or Canon's 300mm or 400mm f/2.8 lenses.
I have $1700 to spend and I am torn at the moment on what to buy. I was thinking of making the switch to Nikon, possibly the D7000 body. I have shot Nikon bodies in the past, D3000, D40, & D60 to be specific and liked the interface and resulting images. I currently shoot Canon because I was given a deal that I could not pass up and it has worked so far. I could also spend the money on a Canon 7D body and keep the 40D as a backup, makes sense to go that route. I just want to ensure I am getting the most capable body for my money. I am shooting sports about 90% of the time but will soon begin shooting portraits and weddings. I don't want to make this a Canon vs. Nikon thread, I simply want those with real world experience with BOTH bodies to offer their opinion. I have about a week before I am going to decide and order. I appreciate any advice you could give. |
